Move and Breathe through Grief

HeartSpace: Yoga for Grief & Loss

A gently, trauma-sensitive space to move, breathe and feel what's heavy on your heart.

If we love, we also lose.
Yet grief is rarely recognized in our society.
We’re often told to cheer up, move on, or stay strong — words that leave our loss unseen and our hearts unheard.

At HeartSpace, you are invited to slow down, feel, and be witnessed.
Through gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga, somatic practices, and breathwork, we create space for the body to release tension and for the heart to soften.
You don’t need to have practiced yoga before, only the willingness to show up as you are.

What to expect?

Each class offers a safe and nurturing environment to reconnect with your body and emotions.
Together, we move gently, breathe deeply, and honour what has been lost.

You can expect:

🌬 Gentle, trauma-informed yoga — to move safely with awareness and compassion
🤲 Somatic practices — to support emotional release and body reconnection
💞 Breathwork — to calm your nervous system and restore inner balance
💧 Moments of reflection and stillness — to honour your grief and your love

Grief is not something to rush, fix, or hide.
It is a sacred act of love.

You are not invisible. And neither is your baby.
You deserve space to feel, to fall apart, to be held, and to rise — in your own time.

This is not weakness. This is holy, heart-led strength.
And you don’t have to do this alone.

You feel lighter and calmer

Your body no longer carries all the weight of your grief. You can breathe more freely, rest more deeply, and move with ease again.

You feel connected again

To yourself, to your breath, to others who understand. You no longer feel so alone in your experience.

You trust your healing

You begin to see that grief and love can coexist — that you can carry both and still move forward with gentleness and strength.

If you’re finding yourself nodding along to all this, you’re not alone…

Grief changes everything, how you breathe, move, sleep, and connect. It can feel heavy, confusing, and endless. But healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means learning to live with your loss, in a softer way.

Through gentle movement, somatic awareness, and breathwork, you can begin to:

🌬 Release what your body is holding — the tension, the tightness, the unshed tears.
🤍 Soothe your nervous system — finding calm and rest again after chaos.
🌿 Reconnect with yourself — feeling safe in your body and open to life once more.

In grief yoga, there is no right or wrong way to feel, only space to listen, move, and breathe your way back to your heart.

Move and Breathe through Grief

HeartSpace: Yoga for Grief & Loss

Grief lives in the body, in the chest that tightens, the breath that shortens, the heart that aches for what was lost.

At HeartSpace, you are invited to pause, soften, and listen. Through gentle, trauma-sensitive yoga, somatic movement, and breathwork, we create space for what words cannot express, the pain, the love, the longing. Here, you don’t have to hold it all together. You can simply arrive as you are.

Each breath becomes an act of remembrance.
Each movement, a quiet return to yourself.
Each moment, a step toward healing — at your own pace, in your own way.

FAQs

What is Grief Yoga?

Grief Yoga uses gentle movement, breath, and mindfulness to help release the emotions that grief holds in the body. It’s not about perfect poses, it’s about feeling, expressing, and healing through movement.

What kind of grief is this class for?

HeartSpace welcomes anyone experiencing loss. The death of a loved one, loosing your baby, the end of a relationship, illness, change, or any transition that brings sorrow. All forms of grief are honored here.

Do I need to bring any equipment?

Just wear something comfortable and, if possible, bring comfortable clothes. Mats and blankets are available at the location.

Do I need to have experience in practicing Yoga?

Not at all. These classes are trauma-sensitive and open to everyone, even if you’ve never done yoga before. You’ll be guided with care at your own pace.

What is when I don't want to do a pose or feel uncomfortable with it?

You are always in choice. You can rest, breathe, or modify any movement. Listening to your body is part of the practice. There’s no pressure to push through.

What is when I feel emotional or need to leave the class?

It’s completely okay. Grief can surface in unexpected ways, and you’re always free to step out, breathe, or take space and have a tea. You’ll be supported with care and without judgment.
